if goven enough time, most chemical reactions stop before reaching completion. Although theses systems appear static, in reality they exist in a dynamic state of chemical equilibrium. The equilibrium state is a direct consequence of the reversibility of chemical reactions. Reversible reactions consists of both forward and reverse processes that occur simultaneously in a reaction mixture. Equilibrium is a special system in which forward and reverse reactions occur indentical rates. Chemical equilibrium plays an enormously important role on the natural world around us.
